with the opportunity to be extended as funding is available.

POSITION: IT Technical Support Specialist
LOCATION: Based at the Watauga County Health Department, but will routinely travel throughout the District as work priorities
demand.
SALARY RANGE: Minimum starting $20/hour; salary negotiable depending on qualifications and experience
AVAILABILITY: Immediately
JOB DESCRIPTION: This position exists to serve as the first line of support responding to support requests from the AppHealthCare Helpdesk. This position is responsible for PC and peripheral device setups and installations. This position also installs, upgrades and configures software.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Associates degree in computer science, electronics or related field supplemented by a minimum of 3 years of experience and/or training that includes PC repair and installation, network configuration, software installs, systems troubleshooting and managing devices on a Windows domain using Active Directory; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Provides help desk services covering a wide variety of technology needs with a strong customer service approach. This position will require knowledge in installs of software on computers, initializing systems, installing and upgrading vendor application software, updating operating systems, and applications. Responds to internal staff concerns and questions; refers concerns and questions to IT Director as needed. Assists with training for employees on new and existing computer
hardware and software, computer applications, and telecommunications equipment. Assists in coordination to implement PC technologies. A successful candidate must be able to interact professionally with a focused attention to equipping team members with the tools needed for their work. Must be physically able to operate a variety of computers and their peripheral equipment. Must be able to exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally and or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or
otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work. Light work usually involves walking or standing for periods of time. Possession of a valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES PREFERRED:
It will require flexibility, high energy, and good coordination/organizational skills. The position will require the person hired to build relationships across the district. A positive, energetic, team player is required.
