Summer Internship: Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Initiative Marketing Intern

Department: Member Services
Location: Remote (some travel to health centers across NC may be required)
Duration: Summer 2025 (June – August/ 8weeks)
Hours: 20 hours/week (Flexible)
Compensation: [Paid $15/hr]

About Us: The North Carolina Community Health Center Association (NCCHCA) is the HRSA-funded state primary care association (PCA) serving federally qualified health centers and look alikes. NCCHCA partnered with health centers to create a high-quality apprenticeship pathway, including our flagship Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Initiative. This program combines classroom instruction with paid, hands-on experience, helping individuals launch careers in the medical field without the burden of student debt.

We’re looking for a dynamic intern to help market this impactful program and connect more people to life-changing opportunities.

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Initiative Marketing Intern will support outreach and communication strategies to raise awareness of apprenticeship opportunities in healthcare. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a passion for healthcare, workforce development, and empowering others through education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating marketing materials to promote the apprenticeship program (flyers, brochures, social media graphics, etc.)
  • Help manage and grow the program’s presence on digital platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
  • Support targeted outreach to students, jobseekers, high schools, and community partners
  • Assist with content development for newsletters, email campaigns, and website updates
  • Conduct interviews or write success stories of current apprentices, alumni, or employer partners
  • Track and analyze outreach and engagement metrics
  • Participate in planning and supporting events such as info sessions, job fairs, and community presentations

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to market workforce development programs in the healthcare sector
  • Real-world exposure to medical assistant apprenticeship programs and healthcare training pathways
  • Experience collaborating across departments and with external partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in high school, college, or a recent graduate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in marketing, healthcare, public service, or education
  • Basic familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools (Canva,etc.)
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, and eager to learn

Timeline:

  • Application Deadline: May 16,2025
  • Interviews: May 19-May 23, 2025
  • Confirmation of Internship: May 30,2025
  • Internship start date: Mid/Late June. Exact date dependent on candidate’s schedule
