Job Description:

MERCE Family Healthcare, is currently recruiting a Family Practice physician to serve as Medical Director and practice medicine in a primary care/acute care setting serving publicly and privately insured, with a focus on the underserved. The position of Medical Director includes two distinct roles:

(1) Clinical responsibilities of a staff provider:
Deliver the full range of ambulatory primary care services, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness in all age groups, preventative, prenatal and well-childcare and minor surgical procedures. Responsible for seeing scheduled patients as well as providing coverage during the operating hours of the Center, providing telephone consultation as needed, performing administrative tasks associated with the provision of medical care, participating in quality improvement activities and providing community service. Medical providers are expected to manage all patients and conditions within the scope of their training and approved privileges. Must understand and practice problem-focused patient care. Cover after-hours call on a rotating schedule with other medical providers.

(2) Administrative and supervisory responsibilities related to Medical Directorship:
The Medical Director has primary responsibility for developing and monitoring the goals and
objectives of the continuous quality improvement plan, supervision of provider staff (including regular peer review), oversight of all Clinical functions, reporting to the board on clinical matters/updates and serving as Supervising Physician for Midlevel providers at the primary medical and urgent care locations. The Medical Director is expected to coordinate regular provider meetings, serve as a mentor to other providers and participate in community events. This position also works closely with our Dental Director, Clinical Director and Urgent Care’s Lead Physician to develop and implement integration of our 3 practice locations.
