PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST – FREEDOM HILL COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER

Freedom Hill Community Health Center is hiring for a Peer Support Specialist. This position supports the Mission, Values and Vision of Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc. (CFHC, Inc.). The Peer Support Specialist (PSS), as part of the primary care treatment team, provides peer supportive services to develop meaningful and trusting relationship with patients with mental health and/or substance use disorders. This position reports to the Integrated Behavioral Health Manager.

Minimal Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certificate
One year of experience working with persons with mental health or substance use disorders, preferred
Basic computer skills
Microsoft Word
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to demonstrate empathy
Effective communication skills
Analytical skills
Valid North Carolina Driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
Constant standing and walking, occasional bending, stooping, lifting, reaching forward and overhead.
May occasionally be required to lift patients, office equipment and paper, usually not exceeding fifty pounds of direct lift.
Frequent computer work / data entry.
