JOB TITLE: Staff Pharmacist
DEPARTMENT: Integrated Health Services
FLSA: Full-Time; Exempt
DURATION: Open Until Filled
HIRING RANGE: Competitive and Compensatory with Experience

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for overall daily operations and supervision of the pharmacy department including but not limited to operational and clinical services. Such services include, supervising staff, purchasing, preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical oversight and interaction with medical staff; and oversight of appropriate/timely submission/reconciliation of drug claims. Must comply with state & federal laws and regulations. Participate in QI activities as needed.

340b Pharmacy experience is required for this position.

•Dispense medications safely and efficiently by evaluating patient’s needs and prescriber’s orders within the context of the effects and appropriate circumstances for giving out a specific medication.
•Provide advice and consultation to patients as needed and requested including explanation of how to take a medicine, notification of potential side effects, and consequences of improper use.
•Provide guidance and direction to Pharmacy Technicians and other Pharmacy staff.
•Manage inventory to ensure Pharmacy is adequately stocked and minimize the amount of expired medications.
•Manage the pharmaceutical budget, ensuring that the operation of department is within budget guidelines
•Work collaboratively with administration and prescribing practitioners to provide quality care.
•Ensure that billing & remittance documents and inventory control records are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
•Ensure strict compliance with all standardized professional policies and procedures including adherence to State and Federal laws and regulations.
•Manage prescription returns for credit and destruction.
•Provide oversight and approval of all prescription insurance rebills and adjustments.
•Assist with the development, use, analysis, and feedback of clinical performance measurement indicators, processes, and audits.
•Ensure appropriate record keeping for each prescription filled for pharmacy files, for control files on narcotics, poisons, habit-forming drugs or for billing records.
•Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly pharmacy reports as required
•Other duties as assigned.

•Graduation from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), such as a Doctor of Pharmacy Program (Pharm.D.)
•Must hold a current, unrestricted North Carolina pharmacist license (North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam, or NAPLEX).
•Must have strong understanding of pharmacy purchasing and procurement of drugs and 340B regulatory requirements
•One to three years of experience working in a retail (ambulatory) pharmacy setting.
•Must be detailed oriented, able to multi-task and possess good people skills as well as written and verbal communication skills in order to interact with patients and clinic staff.
•Minimum 3 years of experience in management.
•Must have significant understanding of medical terminology.
•Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
•Good communication, analytical and technical skills.
