POSITION PURPOSE
Performs Clinical duties as they pertain outpatient clinical care. Assists provider (Physician/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) with medical procedures and tests in conjunction with patient visits. Position will participate in QI activities as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Triage patient
• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Escorts patients to the exam room and prepares a patient for an exam.
• Obtains patient history and chief complaint.
• Obtain lab specimens, give injections, draw blood, and perform routine medical tests Make referral appointments.
• Provide patient education.
• Call in prescription per PA/FNP/MD orders.
• Performs light housekeeping chores.
• Maintains an adequate inventory of medication supplies.
• Places pharmacy order
• File patient information in the medical record.
• Assist in assuring goals and objectives are met.
• Receives telephone calls, answers inquiries, and/or refers questions to appropriate staff members.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is Preferred. Current CPR/BLS certification.
Certification is required to demonstrate competency in the performance of duties specific to infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
