Job Description:

Metropolitan Community Health Services (MCHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that employs a patient centered approach, providing access to high quality, affordable primary care, dental care, and behavioral health preventive and wellness services to people of all ages regardless of their financial or insurance status or the ability to pay in Beaufort, Martin, and Washington counties.

We are seeking experienced Physician Assistants / Nurse Practitioners to join our dedicated team of caring and experienced professionals. Duties Include:

Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, and medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patient’s condition.
Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports and examination results.
Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
Advise patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
Coordinated work with nurses, medical assistants, social workers, case managers, pharmacists, behavioral health specialist, and other health care providers.
Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, students, specialist, therapists, and other medical staff.
Plan, implement, or administer health programs or standards (e.g., Quality Improvement) or communities for prevention or treatment of injury or illness.
Participates in educational programs and trainings to promote professional growth and development
Specialized Knowledge/Skills and Other Abilities:

Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
Talking to others to convey information effectively.
Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Actively looking for ways to help people.
The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

Education:

Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program and NCCPA certification required. Nurse Practitioner must be a graduate of a nurse practitioner education program and have national certification. 2+ years of clinical experience, strong diagnostic skills, ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and others preferred. Must have clean background and be licensed or eligible for licensure in NC.
