RALEIGH, NC – North Carolina’s Community Health Centers care for over 800,000 patients across 92 counties through 700 locations in rural and medically underserved areas statewide, offering integrated primary medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services. Health centers’ doors are open to everyone regardless of ability to pay, including not only those with Medicaid, but also Medicare, private insurance, and uninsured patients. Health centers depend on Medicaid reimbursements to maintain their workforce, sustain comprehensive, cost-effective care, and keep their doors open to all patients.
Reversing the Medicaid provider reimbursement rate cuts lifts a major financial burden and allows health centers to focus on their core mission: keeping North Carolinians healthy. We thank Governor Stein for reversing these cuts, just as we thank the North Carolina House and Senate for their commitments to ensuring the Medicaid program is adequately funded. We look forward to partnering with the Governor and with the General Assembly toward our shared goals of strengthening the Medicaid program.
