Diploma of Dental Hygienist. Completion of an accredited ADA dental hygiene program. Satisfactory professional references.
Experience: 2-5 years of experience
Current NC Dental Hygiene license
Maintain a current BLS certification
Must be able to effectively conduct patient interview to include obtaining patient medical history and chief complaint.
Performs scaling and polishing teeth, instructing patients in good oral hygiene habits by evaluating oral hygiene and teaching patients how to improve.
Provides oral cancer screenings, non-periodontal treatment (scaling & root planning).
Effectively completes periodontal charting.
Provides after care for dental treatments rendered, and provides other preventative dental care.
Calls scheduled dental patients to remind them of dental appointments.
Patient management during dental procedures.
Provides prophylactic care and preventive care to include topical fluoride and application of occlusal sealants.
Precept dental hygiene students assigned to KCHC or in conjunction with dental outreach programs.
Prepares patients for examination and performing routine x-rays as needed.
Assists the dentist with exams and minor office surgeries, when required.
Provides oral hygiene education to patients, on an individual basis and in groups when feasible and appropriate.
Must ensure that OSHA and HIPAA guidelines are followed in clinical areas.
Appropriately completes dental charting.
Maintains BLS and effectively utilize CPR skills when required.
Maintains patient exam rooms by stocking them with supplies and equipment.
Dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
Properly dispose of contaminated supplies
Properly sterilize instruments as needed.
Ability to relate to the public regardless of racial ethnic and economic status.
Performs all other duties as assigned .
