Nurse Manager (RN)

Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) provides patient centered, team-based primary care to residents of Western North Carolina. We are looking for a full-time, 40 hour per week, RN to join our growing team!
The Nurse Manager will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and coaching a clinical team. They will work closely with the Health Center Director (HCD) to ensure that all clinical operations are running smoothly and efficiently within their team. These services are needed at our primary location Minnie Jones Health Center, 257 Biltmore Ave, Asheville, NC 28801.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises, evaluates, motivates, coaches, guides, mentors, and regularly provides performance feedback to assigned clinical staff.
Interfaces with patients and families to ensure that care provided is consistent with expectations and customer service goals.
In collaboration with HCD, participates in the hiring, training and orientation of all new medical assistants and nursing staff and works to develop each staff member in a positive way, leading by example.
Promotes education for patients, patient families and the community; participates in direct patient care activities as a strategy for role modeling to staff or assessing current operations, leads problem solving and support for team members, feedback, active listening, and conflict resolution.
Recommends changes to improve quality and delivery of care. Seeks staff input and develops and implements processes to enhance clinic operations and improve efficiency.
Identifies clinical operational needs, manages all clinical equipment and supply needs. Audits supplies to ensure all supplies are not expired.
Assesses the environment of care and makes recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with regulatory bodies (OSHA, HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration), etc.).
Serves in a clinical capacity to back up float nurses during times of short staffing. May perform patient visits and conduct phone triage.
Maintains close communication with providers in assigned pods to understand and ensure their needs are met by support staff or to resolve individual patient issues proactively.
Evaluates changes in clinical support needed daily and responds by shifting resources when necessary.
Works closely with Clinical Educator to discuss areas in which assigned staff need additional training and mentoring.
Serves as a staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care.
Collaborates with the HCD (Health Center Director) to plan, schedule and organize work for clinical support staff ensuring proper distribution and delegation of work and efficient utilization of staff, space, and facility.
Oversees medical assistant workflows within assigned pods and takes action to identify and resolve any exceptions.
Monitors clinical quality measures for assigned pods and works with medical assistants to ensure targets are met.
Oversees staff competencies for laboratory point of care testing in assigned pods, ensuring compliance with procedures and all regulations.
Promotes a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, holding safety huddles, and following high reliability principles.
Shares medical assistant weekly schedule and organizes cross-coverage when needed.
Cultivates exemplary customer service throughout the organization using AIDET principles and coaches staff to utilize AIDET as part of their daily interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical operations and management
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks and priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in clinical management preferred
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an outpatient setting.
Expert knowledge of ambulatory, medical office operations.
Familiarity with role of FQHC in the community.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience- Three years of nursing experience is required
Education- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required
Licensure/certification- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of North Carolina, BLS certification
Training- Satisfactory completion of educational program of clinical rotations
